The Balamory cast has delighted fans in a reunion picture, over two decades on from the hit show, and the actors are barely recognisable.

The hugely popular BBC children's show, which aired from 2002 until 2005, was based on a fictional Scottish island community, Balamory. It followed the lives of its residents who became very familiar faces for young fans.

Among the cast was Chewin' the Fat star Julie Wilson Nimmo as school teacher Miss Hoolie and River City's Juliet Cadzow as bus driver Edie McCredie. Scots Squad star Andrew Agnew played Balamory copper PC Plum.

Andrew took to social media to share a photo alongside Julie and Juliet for a stage production starring their old pal Miles Jupp, who was cast in Balamory as inventor Archie.

He wrote, sharing the photo on X, formerly Twitter: "A brilliant night seeing our pal. Go see Miles Jupp On I Bang you won't be disappointed. A superb piece of theatre cunningly disguised as stand-up."

Andrew added: "Extremely funny but also poignant at points. The intelligence in his comedy is inspired. With friends forever."

Fans rushed to the comments to share their appreciation for the sweet reunion of the co-stars as one person said: "Sounds like a big Balamory reunion there." Another added: "What a lovely photo of you all," as a third simple wrote: "Love this."

Balamory was filmed mostly in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, with scenes at Archie's castle filmed in East Lothian, while other locations including the nursery and the mainland were both filmed in Glasgow.

Elsewhere, Balamory star's Julie and Andrew have once again joined forces for the second instalment of CBeebies' Olga da Polga. The show is based on the same titled book, written by Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond.

It follows the adventures of guinea pig Olga da Pola and her owner Karen Sawdust, played by Isla Mercer.

Julie Wilson-Nimmo will be reprising her role as Karen's mum, Mrs Sawdust, and her Still Game star husband Greg Hemphill has been cast to play the role of Mr Sawdust.
