Jay Blades 'cuts ties' with BBC The Repair Shop following marriage split and family tragedy

Jay Blades has taken aim at The Repair Shop after stepping back from the BBC show. The presenter made the decision to have a break from filming amid troubles in his personal life.

His absence from filming the BBC show occurred just six days after he announced his marriage to wife Lisa was over. Jay has also removed any association from the programme on his social media accounts.

His bios, on both Instagram and Twitter, previously mentioned The Repair Shop but now read: "Eco Designer, Social Enterpriser & BAFTA,RTS & NTA Awards Winning Presenter." He has also seemingly unfollowed his wife Lisa on Instagram, the Mirror reports.

Fitness influencer Lisa-Marie Zbozen made a shock announcement last week when she said their “marriage is over” in a statement online. She wrote: “I don’t know how to say this because it’s still really raw. I probably should be really angry but I’m just incredibly sad about the whole thing right now.”

Lisa-Marie, 44, added: “I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much” as she admitted their marriage “just got worse and worse.”

She continued: “The world got the best parts of my husband and over time, I got a whole lot of everything else. I will admit I’m crying as I type this as I can’t believe this is even real. I hope you don’t mind if I just have a few days trying to figure out my life as I’m currently in a spare room with a few essentials. I don’t know what else to say. All my love, a very broken Lisa-Marie x."

The Repair Shop made history at the National Television Awards last year, getting a top gong for Best Daytime Show, passing flagship ITV breakfast show This Morning.

Jay's break from the BBC show also comes after reports his uncle Richard Braithwaite was reportedly ‘stabbed to death in the street’ near his London home by a neighbour following a spat over a shared alleyway.

The presenter explained he was left in shock by the death of his uncle, who was 72 when he was "murdered a few weeks ago", although he never divulged any further information.

His aunt Annetta, 71, is also believed to have suffered facial injuries. A man has since been charged with murder, wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Addressing his absence from The Repair Shop as filming began in Sussex this week, a source told The Sun: “Jay has taken a step back and is having a break from filming The Repair Shop. His uncle’s murder in March and the breakdown of his marriage means he has decided to take some time out.”

The source continued: “The Repair Shop is carrying on without him for now and the other repairers are hard at work. People who worked with Jay said they were shocked to hear his marriage to Lisa has ended. It was not well known at all among the people who work on the show."
