Countryfile's Adam Henson has taken to Instagram to share the bittersweet news of losing one of his beloved horses, Victoria, while also announcing the arrival of a new foal.

Posting on Sunday, the BBC presenter informed his followers about the "sad passing" of Victoria and introduced them to a new addition to the family, reports the Express.

Adam uploaded an image showing a charming young colt grazing next to its mother Lexy, a chestnut Suffolk Punch. The caption accompanying the touching photo read: "After the sad passing of Victoria last week, I'm delighted to share the news that my #SuffolkPunch mare, Lexy, has given birth to a beautiful #colt."

He continued: "He is doing extremely well and will be staying alongside Lexy with local expert #breeders to ensure they establish a strong bond, before returning to us at @cotswoldfarmpark. #foal #horses #farmlife."

The post received a wave of comments from his audience, expressing their emotions over the mixed update. A follower commented: "What an absolute beauty, good to see the Suffolk Punch bloodline continues Adam."

Another, Sue, exclaimed: "Wow he's a little smasher he's got some lovely strong legs and a beautiful face." One more shared: "So happy to see this, we were at the farm when we saw the horses being moved and I knew something wasn't right, but this news is great to see."

Compliments also came in for Lexy, with a fan saying: "Well done Lexy, hope you and your gorgeous boy are doing well." Charlotte wrote: " Congratulations, he's gorgeous, but so sad to hear about Victoria. Sending love."

Adam didn't reveal the name of the foal in his post, leaving his followers in suspense about what the young horse will be called. This update follows Adam's courageous disclosure about how his wife Charlie's diagnosis of pancreatic cancer affected their family. She was diagnosed at the age of 57.

After undergoing a transformative surgery, she cautiously returned to work part-time after two years and now has biannual scans.
