Escape to the Country's Jules Hudson revealed a major shift from his TV role, leaving fans utterly impressed with his "life-affirming" new venture. The beloved 54 year old BBC host took to Instagram to flaunt his latest skill to his 61,000 followers, sharing a video of himself mastering the art of fine furniture making.

Admirers lauded his "beautiful work" as he divulged that he had dedicated the past three months at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis honing his craft in furniture construction. During his time there, he encountered "challenges" but also discovered the "joy" in creating pieces like a petite table and a chestnut shaker cabinet.

Discussing his showpiece, Jules revealed: "And then I set about designing this..." unveiling a 1/5 scale model of a chair. He detailed: "A chair that I hope would reflect the best of British traditions, cope with the worst of British weather and feel very at home in the best of British homes, be them in the town or here in the countryside."

The trained archaeologist then proudly presented the finished chair, explaining his journey to "source the oak" it was crafted from. Jules added: "All the furniture we made on the course was sourced from native British hardwoods, from sustainable sources, and this is what I've turned it into.

"Here is the finished article, and I could not be happier. I absolutely love the shape and this what I've christened a sweep rail that just brings everything together and offers a rather slouchy, I hope inviting, sense that you want to just get in to this chair."

He proudly discussed a panel on the side of the chair, interlaced and supported with copper pipes, sharing his "life affirming three months" experience stating "making makes me happy". According to Jules, this chair marked "just the beginning" as he said he intends to construct more and share them with his followers.

One fan wrote: "Wow! Man of many talents! " Another chimed in with, "That is amazing, Jules. You are so talented, mate."

Another echoed the sentiment saying: "My goodness Jules, you are so talented! It's absolutely beautiful! Every piece of furniture is delightful."
