The One Show's host, Alex Jones, made a "breaking news" announcement just minutes into Friday's episode.

As she was discussing the guest line-up, she expressed her excitement that BBC News presenter Clive Myrie would be appearing on the programme.

Kicking off the show, Alex said: "Hello and welcome to The One Show, we are live on BBC One and Player with Roman Kemp."

"And Alex Jones," Roman added. "It is the start of your Bank Holiday weekend and we have got lots coming up to keep you entertained. Yes Adrian Dunbar is here."

Alex continued. "He's best known for playing Ted Hastings in Line of Duty but tonight we will be grilling him about his role in the classic musical, Kiss Me Kate."

Roman told viewers: "Jazz hands at the ready as Adrian and the cast will be giving us a spectacular performance of Two Darn Hot at the end of the show. And if their rehearsal is anything to go by then it is not to be missed."

Alex said "I can't wait for that," before announcing "And some breaking news...Clive Myrie will be here. He has swapped his shirt and tie for swimming shorts and headed to the Caribbean for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure."

Despite the excitement over the impressive guest line-up, some fans weren't so thrilled about the performance at the end of the show.

Posting on X, one viewer complained: "It's a big NO from me. Painful. #theoneshow,".

Another quipped: "Line of duty the musical looks interesting #theoneshow."

A third wrote: "The performers were great! Shame about the backdrop."

During Thursday's show, Roman aired concern for Alex after she made an on-air blunder during a conversation with Babatunde Aleshe.

When discussing the comedy awards, Alex began: "Congratulations, you are a new judge on the New Comedy Awards," before pulling a really confused face.

"Now did I say the word comedy?" she started to say before the guests and the crew burst into fits of laughter.

"Are you okay?" Roman questioned before his co-star quickly moved on.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
