BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has fans emotional with update year after cancer diagnosis

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden left fans feeling emotional as she paid a gushing tribute to her husband on their second wedding anniversary, which came just over a year after they were given the news she had stage three breast cancer.

Last May, the Welsh dancer was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump just before heading on her honeymoon with Ben Jones following the dream wedding. Amy quickly underwent a mastectomy and the following chemotherapy treatment meant she couldn't take part in last year's series of Strictly.

Taking to Instagram, Amy posted a number of beautiful snaps from her and Ben's wedding day as she wrote: "Happy 2nd anniversary! I think it's fair to say we've been through quite a bit during married life. But I'm forever grateful for you!"

She went on to detail their shared challenges and how he supported her since her ordeal started over a year ago, saying: "Thank you for this past year! I know at times it's been so tough for you to watch but you kept positive, kept the house clean away from infections and tried to keep me as positive as possible."

Amy continued: "I love you even more! Let's hope for a smoother year ahead! But what I do know is we have each other! More adventures, my crazy last min plans, house renovations, dance school fun and basically just us being us! Love you always xxx your Amy xxx."

And it wasn't long before the messages of love and support came flooding in for the couple. Strictly dancer Vito Coppola said: "Happy anniversary guuuuuuuys. Cannot wait to see you." Dianne Buswell wrote: " Happy wedding day. Love you both from your bridesmaid. Loves you I do." The dance contest's head judge Shirley Ballas commented: "Happy anniversary to two beautiful souls."
