BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas says 'where to start' and issues emotional family statement

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas has asked "where to start" as she paid tribute to her daughter-in-law. Shirley, the head judge on the BBC show, spoke out on Instagram in a touching tribute as her daughter-in-law marked her birthday.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge - one of four used by the show, including Anton du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse - wrote: "Where can I start with this beautiful daughter-in-law of mine @bcjean.. happy happy birthday.

"I feel so blessed and grateful that our paths crossed and that you are married to my son. You are the best wife to Mark, the best mother to Banksi with an I Wylde with a Y Ballas and dog mom to Hendricks. I’ve watched you grow over the years you’ve been in our life and I must say you are the most spectacular, honest, kind person who loves every human, the planet and all animals in it.

"You’re a defueler of all fires and I love that you would never ever intentionally hurt anybody or any living creature because your heart is so pure and so kind. You are a magnificent person in every shape and form and Nanny and I are truly honoured to have you as the most beautiful daughter-in-law.

"You are simply the best. Have the most beautiful day surrounded by those you love. See you soon." In reply, a fan said: "She looks like a warriar queen in her wedding dress, beautiful, strong and wise, what a wonderful lady."

"Great photos, hope your daughter in law has a wonderful birthday xx," a second said. "She is beautiful inside and out and has a beautiful singing voice," added another. A third said: "Such lovely words Shirley. You are blessed to have such an amazing woman in your lives.

"Your Mum’s jacket is gorgeous."
