BBC Top Gear fans convinced new show on the way as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May reunite
BBC Top Gear fans have been driven to a state of excitement as Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson reunite. Top Gear enthusiasts are sure a new show is in the pipeline as the stars and pals have regrouped.
The trio bid farewell to the BBC programme in 2015 and subsequently starred in The Grand Tour on Amazon TV. After seven years on this new platform, the television icons have recently concluded their final Grand Tour special.
Jeremy was dismissed from Top Gear in light of an alleged incident during production where he reportedly hit a producer over a disagreement on set, leading Hammond and May to quit the programme.
Despite parting ways professionally, they have remained firm friends, recently enjoying a pint at a pub in the good weather with former racing driver and Top Gear host Tiff Needell. Jeremy recorded his chums waxing lyrical in the sun and captioned the moment: "I'm in a time warp."
Fans couldn't contain their anticipation for another TV get-together as one exclaimed: "Bloody hell some stories to tell round that table , all of you should do another show together", reports the Mirror.
Another fan added: "Its just soo good to see these guys as friends as well. Not just colleagues."
Someone else speculated: "Ok, hear me out, the coincidence of The Grand Tour ending and Top Gear ending at the same time maybe isn't a coincidence? Perhaps the boys will come back to Top Gear and end it the way it should be ended, with these three at the helm. Maybe we'll get a season or two of Top Gear? One can only dream this is what's happening. I'd really hate to think that this next Grand Tour episode is the last we'll see of our three favourite guys."
A fourth pleaded: "One more big grand tour with Tif and some other big names from back in the day would be one incredible way to bow out."
Another enthusiast exclaimed: "Yay, Tiff! He's great. I love watching original Top Gear with Tiff."
Earlier in the year, Hammond hinted at a possible return to Top Gear with his co-stars May and Clarkson.
When quizzed by The Mirror about a potential comeback to the BBC show, Hammond chuckled: "I don't know. I have no doubt Top Gear will come back one day. Somebody will pick it up and run with it. It'll be a different show."
He also expressed his belief that Top Gear wouldn't stay off the air for long after BBC chiefs decided to put the show on hiatus following Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff's accident.
The former cricketer, aged 46, suffered severe injuries in a crash while filming in December 2022 alongside co-presenters Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris. "It's been taken off-air and put back on many times before. They rest it. I'm sure somebody will take it up," Richard commented.
Having experienced two life-threatening crashes himself during his time on Top Gear, he emphasises the importance of safety. He went on: "We probably know better than most that no matter how many precautions you take, accidents can still happen and things can still go wrong, and they do. It's then about how well-prepared are you to deal with it once the worst has happened, once it has gone wrong, if you have everything in place to cope with it."
Hammond also reflected on the trio's enduring juvenile spirit, sharing: "I think we're still the same three we each were when we were about 12."
