BBC Young Musician winner to play with Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra

Master pianist from the Isle of Wight, Thomas Luke, will perform with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra on July 6.

The musician is known as the 2020 keyboard category winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition.

In addition to winning the Iris Dyer Piano Prize at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, he was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal College of Music in 2022.

He now studies as a Margaret Mount Scholar.

He will be performing Richard Addinsell’s Warsaw Concerto, known for its romantic richness, and Richard Rodney Bennett’s jazz-oriented Party Piece.

Included in the schedule is Aaron Copland’s representation of the Wild West legend, Billy the Kid.

Also premiering is Three Card Trick by Island composer Pam Wedgwood.

The event starts at 7.15pm.
