A section of north Norfolk beach has been reopened after a warning was issued to avoid the area.

The Environment Agency has given the all-clear for safe bathing and beach activities to resume at East Runton beach today after an issue with Anglian Water infrastructure saw an area of the beach closed.

The council confirmed that the advisory signage has been taken down and the Blue Flag reinstalled.

Yesterday, North Norfolk District Council advised walkers, dog walkers and swimmers to avoid the section of beach near the Beach Road Car Park.

An Anglian Water spokesperson confirmed that they had assisted the Environment Agency in identifying the source of a discharge on the beach and found a minor sewer collapse and blockage on Felbrigg Road.

They added: "All of our tests have shown that this has had no impact onto the beach itself.

"The blockage has been cleared, and our teams repaired the pipe last night.

"Further investigations to identify the source will continue today."

The Environment Agency has advised that throughout the bathing season, they will issue warnings of any forecasted pollution risk on its Swimfo website.
