At Your Beat fitness dance routine week 3: dancing in heels

Everyone likes to think they look like Beyonce when they're dancing in heels - but we often look like we're slipping around on ice instead.

While Beyonce and Britney make dancing in heels look easy, it's actually much harder than you think.

Cherelle Jay, professional dancer and resident expert heels instructor for cult London dance fitness studio, At Your Beat explains: ‘’When you wear a pair of heels your natural centre of balance is immediately tested meaning that your core and small muscle groups need to work harder. During our StrutBEAT heels class, calves and thigh muscles are given a punishing workout meaning that regular practice will undoubtedly lead to leaner limbs, toned tummies and a tighter butt!

"The added bonus is that you will also look super sassy next time you hit the club.’’

AYB's weekly StrutBEAT class will help you do just this and has become a favourite among Londoners.

Aiming to get London’s dance feet moving, At Your Beat have teamed up with the Evening Standard for the month of August to deliver bite sized chunks of their most popular dance classes, direct to screens for readers to try at home.

WEEK 3: StrutBEAT

Expect a sexier alternative to squats with emphasis on smaller, sultry moves that are led from the hips. Work every curve with your calves and thigh muscles given an extreme workout. For part three of their video series, At Your Beat have created a StrutBEAT taster class to try at home.
