Britain's Got Talent icon Susan Boyle has spoken out about her mental health, admitting she finds it "a lot easier" to talk openly about the issue.

Ahead of the America's Got Talent: The Champions grand finale, Susan talked to The Sun about how her life has changed since appearing on BGT 10 years ago.

Reflecting on her overwhelming success – and unexpected loss to Diversity in the 2009 final – Susan said she was now "more than ready for what's coming".

Boyle admitted that although it "can be difficult to talk about mental health issues", she finds discussing her own mental health a lot easier.

"Years ago there used to be a stigma about it, but now there is more knowledge, more expertise, and talking about things makes it a lot easier. A lot easier.

"I can cope with the pressure now. I know how to control myself better," she said. "I don’t get so worked up about things. I got a lot of help and I'm managing a lot more effectively."

Despite being a national treasure and all-round singing sensation, SuBo recently revealed her reason for appearing on BGT's sister 'champion of champions' series.

"I couldn't possibly walk away from a second chance to prove myself," she said of her America's Got Talent debut. "I'm really looking forward to singing – this time, with something to prove."
