Bid for homes in Gloucestershire village targeted by developers

There are plans for three new homes on the edge of a Gloucestershire village which has been the subject of several development bids recently. Andrew Colburn Homes Ltd wants permission to develop land in Longhope in the Forest of Dean.

A planning application for School Lane has been submitted to Forest of Dean District Council. Earlier this month the council rejected an "unreasonaly big" separate bid for 44 homes on Church Road.

And last year plans for 12 affordable homes which “split the village” were approved in that road. Consultants working on the latest housing scheme say the village is made up of a variety of different home styles.

And their proposal includes simple traditional housing with brickwork facing, brick lintels, with a pitched tiled roof. “The three dwellings off School LAne for a stand alone development which is effectively a rounding off of the lane.

“The existing houses at the top of the lane will face through the cul-de-sac, but hte new houses at the end are at a lower level and they will therefore maintain a view over them. The rear first floor bedroom window of plot four has been relocated to the side to avoid overlooking the Old School dwelling.”
