A Glasgow tenants' group has scooped a top national award.

Wyndford Futures Focus Group (WFFG) clinched Tenant Team of the Year at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Scotland National Good Practice Awards.

The event, hosted by Scottish entertainer Michelle McManus on Friday, June 21, showcases excellence in participation and engagement.

The group, which includes around 30 Wheatley Homes Glasgow tenants, has been working with Wheatley staff and architects on the £100 million regeneration plans for the Maryhill area of Glasgow.

The WFFG is carrying out community surveys to gather the views of Wyndford tenants, homeowners, and the neighbourhood.

The feedback is then used as part of the draft masterplan for the area.

Chris Quinn, co-chair of Wyndford Futures Focus Group, said: "We are absolutely delighted to pick up this award on behalf of Wheatley Homes Glasgow tenants and the community in Wyndford.

"We've always believed since the very first meeting that this project was something special as tenants were at the heart of it all and driving positive changes for our community.

"This £100m regeneration will shape our community for the better, not only for the people who live here today, but for families and generations to come."

The redevelopment is set to see 386 affordable homes built, of which 85 percent are for social rent and 15 percent for mid-market as well as a new, purpose-built community hub.

Additionally, a significant £13 million is currently being utilised to improve existing homes and the surrounding environment, introducing fresh green spaces, paths, and security.

Eveline Armour, development and delivery manager of TPAS Scotland, said: "Well done to the Wyndford Futures Focus Group for winning the Tenant Team of the Year Award.

"The work that has been done to engage tenants in the Wyndford regeneration project is a gold standard exemplar of tenant participation and demonstrates how powerful the tenant voice is."
