Biden camp expects 12K attendees at battleground state debate watch parties

President Biden’s reelection campaign is expecting more than 12,000 people at its debate watch parties in battleground states on Thursday night, the campaign first shared with The Hill.

Biden is expected to make an appearance at the watch party in Atlanta following the first presidential debate, a campaign official also told The Hill.

The campaign is planning to host watch parties in all 50 states on Thursday, when Biden and former President Trump are going head-to-head.

The Biden campaign announced earlier this week that it will host more than 300 debate watch parties and that Biden surrogates are expected to make appearances at many.

In the lead-up to the debate, the campaign has hosted more than 1,600 additional events across battleground states, such as trainings and canvassing with supporters and volunteers.

Both campaigns are vying for support in the critical battleground states.

New Emerson College Polling/The Hill state polls last week found Trump up 4 points over Biden in Arizona and Georgia, 3 points up in Wisconsin and Nevada, 2 points up in Pennsylvania and 1 point in Michigan.

A CBS News/YouGov poll earlier this month found 50 percent of likely voters chose Biden and 49 percent chose Trump in battleground states.
