Big Brother housemates have been praised for their inclusive reaction to Hallie sharing her transgender status.
The 18-year-old youth worker from London admitted she was nervous as she made the announcement.
As a result the housemates all shared their pronouns in a bid to make everyone felt comfortable with the way they were being addressed.
What, how, and why?
The housemates were shown sitting around the breakfast table after waking up on their first morning in the Big Brother house.
Hallie, 18 announced: "Hey, guys. I just have something to say. Yesterday I felt like I wasn’t being 100 per cent authentic in myself.
"I thought I’d let everyone know I’m trans, if you didn’t know already. I just thought I’d make that loud and clear. I’m a trans woman, if you didn’t know."
Welsh dental assistant Chanelle hugged Hallie and told her: “Good for you. That’s very brave of you.”
Trish, a 33-year-old mother from Luton said: "We've got you."
Trish and customer support assistant Yinrun, 25, also embraced Hallie.
She said: "I don’t know why I was nervous."
Make-up artist Farida, 50, said: "You don’t need to be nervous.”
Scottish dancer Oliva, 23, then suggested: "On that subject can we just double-check pronouns so nobody gets offended?"
The housemates went around the table stating their pronouns. They were all he/him or she/her.
Public-school educated and self-confessed Boris Johnson-loving Conservative voter Henry looked visibly uncomfortable and slightly amused by the process.
Lawyer Jordan, 25, from Scunthorpe — who claims he learned to be Posh from watching Downton Abbey — shrugged: "Just a he/him."
Chanelle joked: "he/him or Lord!"
What else happened ?
Viewers were impressed by how the housemates responded in such a relaxed and accepting way.
One wrote on social media platform X, former known as Twitter: "What followed after Hallie told everyone she was trans was pure humanity. Gorgeous. No issues. No problems. Everyone just saying what pronouns they are. My name is James. He/him. This is the UK I choose to believe we still are."
Another said: "I love how accepting they were of Hallie. And how they went around the table and shared their pronouns after she came out to them. #BBUK"
And another wrote: "Huge respect for Hallie. Also, Lovely response from the rest of the house."
