A man whose bigamy was exposed when his first wife spotted him on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway with his second wife has been jailed for six months.

Daniel Gundry was caught out when he was seen among the guests at a surprise wedding shown live on the show in March 2016.

The 39-year-old was seen with wife number two Susan Brooker on live TV by wife number one Helen Gundry, who caused a storm when she posted on the Saturday Night Takeaway Facebook page.

She wrote: “I loved the wedding and the surprise guests – I didn’t love the sight of my husband who’s supposed to be working in Dubai arriving on the arm of another woman, a woman he’s supposed to have split from last year.”

Gundry initially denied being married to 45-year-old Susan, and claimed he had been separated from Helen, 53, for several years.

However, he had in fact asked Helen to give their marriage another go – despite having married Susan in a luxury Seychelles wedding.

Despite his initial claims that he and Susan had only had a blessing and therefore were not legally married, Gundry later admitted bigamy and has been jailed for six months and ordered to pay the victims £115 for causing them “embarrassment, shame and humiliation”.

Mum-of-two Helen, who married Gundry in 1998, said after the verdict: “He has been lying for a long time so I’m just glad that finally he’s been found out.”

Helen and Susan, whose sister was the bride on the Saturday Night Takeaway wedding, have become friends since learning of Gundry’s deceit.
