The 2020 Emmys ceremony was a virtual affair last night. To keep to social distancing orders, presenters and nominees, for the most part, stayed in their homes and hotel rooms, appearing via video to celebrate the best of television. Still, the digital format didn’t stop

Billy Porter, known for his daring red carpet looks, from bringing the drama and glamour.

The Pose star was nominated in the Outstanding Best Actor in a Drama Series category and wore a custom off-white suit with pronounced buttons and a floor-grazing matching shawl by the Saudi label Ashi Studio. He accessorized the ensemble with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, an Alan Crocetti ear cuff, and Rick Owens platforms. And though he lost to Succession’s Jeremy Strong (Porter won the award last year), Porter definitely garnered top honors in the style department.

“Tonight was absolutely incredible,” Porter wrote on his Instagram account. “Congrats to Jeremy Strong on your big win and also sending love to my fellow distinguished nominees. We got through this together and it’s was a historically unique award show we will never forget. Y’all looked good tonight! Stay safe everyone and have a great night.”

“This moment means so much,” shared stylist Colin Anderson, who along with Ty Hunter, outfitted Porter in the unique look. “The biggest of thank you’s & gratitude to @tytryone, the one who has always believed in me. A huge hats off to Mr. Ashi and the entire team at @ashistudio in working with us over the last several months to bring this impeccable vision & garment to life. And lastly, a humble applause to @theebillyporter. Thank you for inspiring, and bringing myself, and so many others on this beautiful ride.”
