Birmingham Airport has revealed why a meet-and-greet parking service abruptly suspended its operations last month. On May 20, independent airport parking provider Blue Circle Parking stopped collecting and delivering cars belonging to BHX customers after it suspended its services.

This left some passengers stranded, forced to make alternative arrangements to get home after they returned from their holiday to find the company out of business, BirmighamLive reported.

At the time an apology was issued to motorists using the car parking service but adverts for Blue Circle were spotted earlier this month, weeks after the company stopped operating. These were flagged with Birmingham Airport.

Bosses at the airport explained that those wanting to book a meet-and-greet service for their vehicle will still be able to do so through their website. As for Blue Circle, a new provider took over its operations, meaning there are also independent companies offering that same service.

"Blue Circle ceased operations at all airports, including Birmingham Airport, on Tuesday, May 21. Birmingham Airport’s official, approved and guaranteed on-site car parking products, including meet and greet, can be purchased through our website," a Birmingham Airport spokesperson.

Holiday Extras, which sold Blue Circle's services on its website, issued an apology to customers. The site added that anyone with existing bookings with Blue Circle will now have the service handled by Maple Parking.
