Birmingham City given Scott Twine transfer update as Bristol City try to jump the gun

Birmingham City-linked Scott Twine is apparently keeping himself fit at Bristol City’s training facility during the close season.

Bristol City are favourites to sign Twine on a permanent basis from Burnley after his loan spell at Ashton Gate in the second half of last season. And BristolLive report Twine is currently using the Robins’ High Performance Centre training ground to prepare for pre-season.

Twine doesn’t yet know where he will begin pre-season training with a battle for his signature taking place. Burnley are expected to sell the 24-year-old playmaker following their relegation from the Premier League and Bristol City have made him their top target.

Robins boss Liam Manning declared his interest in a permanent transfer in April, saying: “I’d love to work with him. I think he fits the club and profile of player we’ve got but there are so many challenges that go into it. For me, he’s been great; I think he’s got another level he can go to, I think he’s starting to show that and he fits what we’re trying to do.”

Blues were recently named as another interested club, although the club’s position in League One is likely to count against them. Twine recorded 33 goal contributions in 47 League One matches for MK Dons in 2021/22 to earn a transfer to Burnley for a reported £4million.

The fact Twine is using Bristol City’s training ground could suggest that they are at the front of the queue to land him.
