Boats Deliver Supplies as Thousands Await Evacuation in Bushfire-Hit Mallacoota

Emergency supplies were delivered by water as the Australian Navy was called in to help relief efforts to thousands of people cut off in bushfire-hit Mallacoota on January 2.

An estimated 4,000 people were reportedly still stranded near the town’s beach on the Thursday after devastating fires hit the region surrounding the town in East Gippsland, Victoria, on December 31.

In this video, filmed by Kevin Clarke on January 1, people can be seen forming a human chain to ferry water supplies from a small boat to the shore.
