A body was found on the railway tracks this morning.

Emergency services were called to Wavertree Technology Park railway station at 9.25am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics were in attendance, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person's death."

When the ECHO arrived on the scene in the afternoon, a cordon was in place on the side of the road at Wavertree Avenue near the railway station. Neighbours saw police forensics officers on the scene earlier in the day.
