Body recovered from River Trent as Nottinghamshire Police called to Victoria Embankment

A body has been recovered from the River Trent in Nottingham as police say they will be investigating the incident for days. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that the body was discovered at around 11.30am on Saturday (June 22).

Police officers are at the early stages of their investigation, with no formal identification having yet taken place. A large police presence remains in place at the Victoria Embankment, with scores of officers and police vehicles at the scene.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "Nottinghamshire Police can confirm that a body has been recovered from the River Trent in Nottingham... Inquiries to establish what happened will continue over the coming days, and we'd ask that anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation contacts the police."
