Bollywood stars are set to shine in Leicester next week as part of a four-day event celebrating South Asian independent cinema and culture. Bollywood legends Shabana Azmi and Supriya Pathak are scheduled to headline the UK Asian Film Festival Leicester which will be held at Phoenix Cinema in Midland Street, Leicester.

The festival, in its 26th year, will honour Shabana's 50 years in cinema with a screening of two of her films - the 1983 classic satirical comedy Mandi and 2023’s love-saga Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The films will be followed by a Q&A event 'Shabana Azmi in Conservation' with Guardian film critic Mike McCahill.

Superstar Supriya Pathak, widely known for her role in the Khichdi franchise, is reportedly at her best in the new dark comedy Baby Crasto. This screening will also be followed by a Q&A with Supriya.
