An alcohol and music license bid has been lodged for Ninja Warrior's new adventure park on Teesside.

The obstacle assault course chain is set to take over the former Rainbow Casino at Teesside Park, with construction already well underway to transform the unit. The news of the chain opening its first location in the region was unveiled by Teesside Live in July last year, before park bosses finally confirmed the plans in January.

Now, a licensing application has been submitted to Middlesbrough Council for the sale of alcohol on the premises and the playing of recorded indoor music. Documents have also shared more details on how the venue will look - with floor plans showing an obstacle course, inflatable course, under 4s area, and an upper-level mezzanine with seating.

The ground floor will consist of a reception and cafe as well as an activity zone. Meanwhile, the mezzanine will be used as a viewing area, and will also be home to party rooms.Floor plans also reveal the potential for a gaming zone, with machines listed including a Pacman baller machine, a Moto Pioneer twin driver, a dirty racing driver, and a digger machine.

The venue hopes to play recorded indoor music from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 9pm and on Sunday from 10am until 5pm. It also wants to sell alcohol from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 8.30pm and Sunday from 10am until 4.30pm.

The application states that staff will be trained to "ensure trading standards are understood" and that there will be CCTV throughout the venue. It will also have Challenge 25 signs displayed, with alcohol being served in plastic cups.

Alcohol will not be allowed outside of the seating or cafe areas, and no glass bottles will be given to guests. Music will be set to "suitable levels" - with the unit already having double glazing.

This application comes just weeks after plans to transform the front of the unit with "bespoke" graphics and sleek new designs were approved with conditions by the council. Plans for this included Union Jack graphics on the main doors as well as red, white, and blue LED light strips on the underside of the unit's canopy.

The casino - which is located between Showcase Cinema and the former Millennium nightclub - has stood empty since the casino closed for good back in 2016. An opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Anyone wanting to make representations regarding the application must do so in writing by May 22.
