Boris Johnson cuts a dash in eye-catching running clothes

For the serious running enthusiast, knowing what clothes to buy can be a bit of a daunting prospect.

Running shoes are getting ever-more sophisticated - and expensive - but that's just the start of it. A decent shirt with UV protection, sweat-activated technology and so on can set you back upwards of £50, while selecting the best running shorts can involve an unsatisfactory trade-off between comfort and practicality.

None of these concerns seemed to have bothered Boris Johnson, who was photographed in this stunning get-up while out jogging on Tuesday.

Flaunting his curves in a figure-hugging blue polo shirt, the Foreign Secretary (and Telegraph columnist) opted to keep the chill out with a brown fleece and a red-striped beanie hat.

The crowning glory of his running outfit was, however, a pair of garish Hawaiian shorts.

The photos were taken this morning while Mr Johnson took a run around St James Park. A short while later he was back in altogether more dull clothes for a Cabinet meeting at 10 Downing Street.
