Boy, 3, suffers serious injury as 'taxi driver leaves scene of crash'

A three-year-old boy suffered a serious injury to his foot after being struck by a car believed to be a taxi.

The youngster was taken to hospital following the collision in Bedford Street, Crewe, near to the junction with Barker Street. He has since been discharged.

The driver of the car stopped briefly, before leaving the scene without providing their details. Witnesses described him as an Asian or black man, and the vehicle he was driving may have been a taxi.

Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident took place at around 3.30pm on Monday, March 18. However attempts to trace the vehicle and driver have not been successful. Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch with them.

PC Ian Cosgrove, of Cheshire Police, said: “We are urging anyone who witnessed what happened or has any dashcam or CCTV footage which may aid our investigation to get in touch with us.

“We appreciate this incident happened more than a month ago and enquiries have been ongoing since, however we would ask anyone who was in the area at the time to think back about anything they may have seen.”
