Brad Arthur interviewed by Leeds Rhinos as coach search heats up

Brad Arthur has been interviewed by Leeds Rhinos today regarding the vacant coaching role at the club. The Australian is known to be interested in the role following Rohan Smith's departure and reports down under claim the Rhinos have moved quickly to interview him.

Leeds are on the lookout for a new coach following the departure of Rohan Smith, who left the club earlier this week. It hasn't taken long for Arthur, as well as Paul Rowley and Jason Demetriou, to be considered as the favourites for the role.

Arthur is of interest to the Rhinos too, who are set to explore their options in the coming days before coming to a decision. And Arthur's agent, Chris Orr, has confirmed to News Corp that the former Parramatta Eels coach has spoken to the Super League side about the job.

“Brad is considering all of his options and Super League is certainly of some interest to him, especially a quality organisation like the Leeds Rhinos,” Orr said.

“Brad is a career coach and after 11 years with the Parramatta Eels he has plenty to offer any organisation he joins. His experience is extremely valuable, players love playing for him and no one will ever work harder than Brad Arthur.”

Arthur spent 11 seasons at the Eels and took them to the NRL Grand Final in 2022, losing to Penrith Panthers. Leeds' Sporting Director, Ian Blease, was asked about potential interest in Arthur on Thursday. He said: "Yeah, I could probably envisage that."

He added: "I've got no preconceived ideas who it will be. I'll do a thorough research on it all. Yes, applications are coming in as we speak, but I'll make sure I do it properly."
