Brad Pitt couldn't wait to run into ex-wife Jennifer Aniston at the Golden Globes

It might be 18 years since Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston last attended the Golden Globes as a couple, but there are definitely no hard feelings between the exes as the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star said he was looking forward to their red carpet reunion.

Pitt split from the Friends star in 2005 and got together with his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie who he divorced last year, but he wasn’t anticipating any awkward moments with Aniston at Sunday night’s awards ceremony.

During an Entertainment Tonight interview, Pitt was told that the red carpet moment everyone was waiting for was for him to run into ex-wife Aniston.

But he took it in good humour, replying: “I'll run into Jen, she's a good friend. Yeah.”

Pitt has previously been spotted attending Aniston’s 50th birthday and a Christmas party hosted by her.

He even joked that he wasn’t the most important blast from the past for her, making a reference to a much-rumoured Friends reunion after Aniston and her former co-stars were pictured meeting up.

Pitt said: "The second most important reunion of her year? I understand.

"That was a play on Friends. They were saying that."

The pair also showed they share the same sense of humour as Aniston laughed at Pitt’s dating joke on the night.

As he accepted his award for Best Supporting Actor, he jested: “I wanted to bring my mom but I couldn’t, because anyone I stand next to, they say I’m dating. And that would just be awkward.”

The cameras then cut to Aniston who was chuckling along in the audience.

It was a successful night for Pitt, where he received his first Golden Globes nomination in 12 years for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and his first win at the ceremony since 1996.

Aniston was nominated for best actress in a TV drama for her role in The Morning Show, along with co-star Reese Witherspoon, but both lost out to Olivia Colman who won the trophy for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was the big winner of the night across the board, scooping three of the five categories it was nominated for, including best supporting actor for Pitt, and best motion picture - musical or comedy.
