Los Angeles Superior Court Richard J. Burdge Jr. rejected the Hollywood star’s plea to have documents relating to the Brangelina court case sealed on Wednesday, and now Brad will have to wait until their next hearing on January 17.

TMZ reports that the 52-year-old actor stated he was trying to seal the case in a bid to protect the privacy of his six children; twins Vivienne and Knox, aged eight, Shiloh, 10, Zahara 11, Pax, 13, and Maddox, 15.

“I am extremely concerned that if court records regarding custody are not sealed, information contained therein will cause irreparable damage to our children’s privacy rights,” he said in a sworn written declaration filed Wednesday.

But Angelina’s lawyers reportedly declared that Brad’s request was nothing more than an attempt to save his own reputation by preventing the circulation of “embarrassing details” that risk being publicised over the coming months.

“His … request is a thinly veiled attempt to shield himself, rather than the minor children, from public view,” the 41-year-old actress’ attorneys wrote.

The FBI previously investigated the Allied star following an alleged argument with his son Maddox.

It was reported that Brad was “verbally abusive and physical” with his teenage son while the family were on a private jet flying from France to Los Angeles in September, but the FBI’s investigation was officially closed in November.

“In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter,” the federal law enforcement agency said in a statement.

Angelina filed for divorce in September citing “irreconcilable differences” as legal grounds. She currently has primary custody of their six children.
