New Bradford nursing home officially opens its doors today

FOLLOWING extensive building works, a Bradford nursing home has officially opened its doors, with the first phase of the specialist care facility now accepting residents.

Situated at the former Gateway Care Home site on Sticker Lane, Cherrybrook Care Home will provide dementia and specialist care for adults living with enduring mental health needs.

Cherrybrook Care Home has appointed Shaun Asquith as Clinical Deputy Lead alongside a team including nurses, senior care assistants and care assistants.

The home will open in phases, with the first 24 beds of phase one available from today.

The full home features spacious lounges and dining areas, activities rooms with dementia train, a hairdressing salon and landscaped gardens, and once fully open will feature 120 ensuite bedrooms.

Commenting on the official opening of Cherrybrook Care Home, Registered Manager Martin Deakin, said: “Witnessing the official opening of Cherrybrook is a significant milestone for me.

"Our original schedule was hit with delays due to unexpected but required building works.

"However, the priority remained to open an excellent care facility in which Bradford can be proud.

"We have achieved that - and I am in no doubt that perseverance will pay off.”

Founded on a person-centred approach to care, Cherrybrook Care Home champions the latest dementia research taking inspiration from the city’s academic excellence spearheaded by the late Bradford University professor, Thomas Kitwood.
