Unai Emery has extended his contract with Aston Villa until 2027, according to The Athletic.

Since his arrival at Bodymoor Heath in November 2022, Emery has completely transformed the club's recent history - simply put, no other manager in world football would have performed a better job than he has at Villa over the last 18 months.

After securing a seventh-placed finish in his first season, despite only signing two players in the January window, Emery embarked on his 16th consecutive season in Europe this term. His side are now two semi-final legs against Olympiacos away from reaching their first European final since 1982, when they won the European Cup by beating Bayern Munich 1-0 in Rotterdam.

Villa are also gunning for Champions League qualification this season and are six points ahead of Tottenham.

While Spurs have games in hand, Villa would move nine points clear on Saturday night if they beat Chelsea, before Sunday's north London derby.
