Actress Brigitte Nielsen has given birth to her fifth child at the age of 54.

The Danish model has welcomed her newest addition to her family after she announced her pregnancy at the end of May via social media.

Nielsen and husband Mattia Dessi made public that she’d given birth to a baby girl weighing 5 lbs. 9 oz., and declared they were ‘overjoyed’ while speaking to People.

‘We are overjoyed to welcome our beautiful daughter into our lives, the proud parents said. “It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love.’

Nielsen, famed for her film roles in the likes of Red Sonja and Beverley Hills Cop II, is currently loved up in her fifth marriage and already has four adult children that include Julian, 34, Killian, 28, Douglas, 25, and Raoul, 23.

She’s shared plenty of family pictures and announcements of the extraordinary pregnancy at 54-years-old on her Instagram account.

Revealing the pregnancy at the end of May, she captioned her baby bump picture with ‘happy time, positive vibes’.

And she shared a series of snaps of herself and hubby Mattia just hours before giving birth on the Friday.

She captioned three photos ‘greek lunch….in LA’, to show her 124,000 followers of her day out.

The star has also spoken out about her alcohol addiction and the negative ways it has affected her parenting ability over the years.

‘I’ve been a bad mum at times – when you take the bottle over your kids, you’re a bad mum,’ she admitted. ‘But I love them and there has always been a close bond.’

Nielsen also added: ‘I’ve been affectionate, caring. It’s unfortunate they’ve seen me in a bad way. But kids are great, they’re the most unconditional, forgiving people.’
