A Bristol nightclub venue has launched a fundraiser and day and night event to raise funds for next year's St Pauls Carnival. Lakota, which is located on Upper York Street in St Pauls, will be playing host to 13 hours of music, with a full line-up of artists announced to perform across multiple stages.

Taking place on July 6, the Lakota St Pauls Carnival Day & Night Fundraiser will run from 2pm-3am, with tickets on sale now and priced between £6.38 and £13.88 (with free entry before 3.30pm on the day and the chance to donate on the door). There will also be a number of food stalls on site, as well as a fully stocked bar.

It comes following the announcement of a scaled-down version of the famous Carnival which will be replacing the major Carnival event for 2024. The St Pauls Carnival team announced in 2023, following a successful return to the streets, that it would move to a biennial model which would alternate between a large-scale street event and a more intimate programme.

This year will see the return of the Carnival's popular Back a Yard celebration, which will begin on June 22 - Windrush Day - with a carnival-inspired two-week celebration. You can see the full list of events in the programme here.

On the fundraiser at Lakota, the venue says: "St Pauls Carnival holds a cherished place in the hearts for so many within the Bristol community and over the decades has been a beacon that brings together a true celebration of arts, music, and vibrant culture. Unfortunately due to the increasing costs and complexities of running events like this in today’s climate, the Carnival was not able to make a return this year.

"But we’re on mission to change that. Lakota are proud to be playing their part in helping see the return of this truly iconic event back to the streets of our beloved St. Pauls in 2025. So we’re throwing a huge multi-genre, multi-stage day and night fundraiser event showcasing some of the in-demand talent on the scene right now.

"We’ve got an incredible multi-genre line-up in store for you headlined by none other than EC2A’s finest ‘Dr Dubplate’, Born on Road Superstar ‘Crossy’, and reggae legend Vivian Jones whose music has seen releases on Jet star and Jamwax to name just a few. And with an absolutely stellar support line-up in tow, this is shaping up to be one hell of a party."
