PICTURES: Al Murray brings podcast and Pub Landlord to Chalke History Festival

The Chalke History Festival is now in full swing with attendees and organisers enjoying day three of the festival.

Wednesday's line-up included an event sponsored by the Salisbury Journal: The Chalk Stream, with Guy Walters and rock legend Feargal Sharkey, with Sharkey discussing his love of chalk streams, their unique ecological value, the threat they face and why it is imperative that we take much better care of them than we are presently doing.

Big names have been performing at the festival, with talks held by well-known celebrities including James May, Robert Peston and Al Murray to name but a few.

Day three of the festival saw another exciting lineup for attendees, with various performances and living history shows throughout the afternoon including D-Day specials, Viking crafts, a display on building houses in the iron age, and the history of pie.

The day also saw two performances from British comedian Al Murray, who delivered a talk with James Holland on the biggest events from the year of 1944, recording a special live show of the hit Second World War podcast We Have Ways Of Making You Talk.

The live recording was followed by an evening stand-up show by Al Murray in his persona as the pub landlord, with the comedian taking a night off from his nationwide tour, Guv Island, drinking deep from the first draught of history.
