Brit Claims £24m EuroMillions Jackpot Win

A person has claimed last night's £24m jackpot prize in the EuroMillions game, which was won by a Brit, Camelot has said.

The exact amount that will be pocketed by the lucky winner is an enviable £24,769,931. Oh, and an extra 90p as a pleasing cherry on the top.

Whoever has staked their claim to the cash still needs to have their ticket validated.

But once that is out of the way, the money could be transferred to their bank account as soon as Monday.

Camelot has not revealed if the ticket holder is an individual or a syndicate that will have to split the winnings, or where the ticket was bought.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: "After an unprecedented nine UK EuroMillions winners in 2015, it looks like the luck has rolled over into 2016."

Last month, David and Carol Martin from the Scottish Borders, took home £33m - the biggest ever Lotto claim.

Mr Martin said the first thing he planned to buy was a nice new pair of shoes. The couple also flew their daughter home from Australia to help them celebrate.

But as enormous as that prize was, it paled in comparison to the unfathomable $1.6bn jackpot in America's Powerball last month, which ended up being split three ways.
