Britain’s Got Talent 2016: Alesha Dixon ‘BANNED’ From Performing In The Final

Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon will reportedly not be allowed to perform her new song in the final show this weekend.

Just hours after viewers called for her to be sacked over “racist” comments made during Wednesday night’s (May 25) semi-final, it has been claimed that the former Mis Teeq star won’t be able to use the stage as a platform to re-launch her solo music career.

Due to the large audience viewing numbers that the live final will likely pull in, the 37-year-old had hoped to perform her new single ‘Stop’, but Simon Cowell has refused her the opportunity, according to The Sun.

A BGT source told the paper: “Alesha is disappointed to miss out but appreciates she can’t complain too loudly.

“She knows how fortunate she is being on a show of BGT’s size so would never want to put that at risk.

“Alesha just knows how powerful big TV appearances can be for chart positions.”

The R&B singer performed ‘The Way We Are’ during last year’s series, but this year she will have to resort to promoting her new track at a series of low profile gigs instead.

Dixon, who has been a judge on the talent show since 2012, faced backlash after describing the members of the Vox Fortura act as “four sexy chocolate men.”

She told them: “[You have] amazing voices, polished to perfection, that was sensational. Well done.”

While her comments were complimentary, viewers took to Twitter to slam her choice of wording.

“Can Alesha get away with saying what she said about @Vox_Fortura? Had it been any of the other judges, they’d be called racist #BGT,” one viewer wrote.

Meanwhile, BGT legend Susan Boyle has also been excluded from the line-up of a special 10th anniversary performance for Saturday’s (May 28) grand final.

The Scottish singer’s invite obviously got lost in the post, as Diversity star Ashley Banjo will lead the group that includes previous show favourites Stavros Flatley, Collabro, Ashleigh & Pudsey and George Sampson.

Perhaps Susan needs to employ a new postman/woman for the ‘BGT memory lane’ route…

The Britain’s Got Talent live final is on ITV, Saturday at 7.30pm.
