This weekend we saw 20 year old music student Alex Keirl perform a Les Mis song on Britain's Got Talent. The singer received four yes's from the judges and is one step closer to performing for the royals. EntertainmentWise caught up with the contestant to talk about his experience.

Alex is no stranger to auditioning for talent shows as he has revealed he's already tried both The Voice and Simon Cowell's other show, The X Factor.

He said: “I've done The Voice before, well I did the first rounds. Then I've done The X Factor, twice, and I got to Simon and they were like you're not ready you know, you're too young. So with these things I was like lets go for Britain's Got Talent and see what its like. See how far I get. It's all about luck at the end of the day. X Factor was nearly three years ago.”

The singer told EntertainmentWise that impressing Simon Cowell was the most important part of his Britain's Got Talent audition this year as he said: “Simon is most important to me because he is a major major influence in the music industry and that's potentially where I want to be. Given the break, that's where I want to be.”

Simon's musical sway in the industry is what makes it so important for Alex to continue to impress the music mogul, however he was very happy with the other judges reactions too as he added:

“Of course I wanted to impress all of them, Simon was the one. Obviously he's got so much influence. He can pick up singers, like I wanted to impress all of them and the reaction I got from the other three. I was so happy with, they said the nicest things to me.”

Alex even told EntertainmentWise about what his audition was like and how the judges reacted at the time: “I saw Simon & Amanda, they kept talking to each other and looking at each other” and he noticed the audience too:

“When I was singing the song, I did notice, I looked over to my right, and they kept clapping, people kept clapping! And on the right hand side, these four women started standing up half way through the song and I was like oh my god are you serious? Well they must like it! So I carried on, I said to myself this is it, lets go for it!”
