Fresh off the back of the NME Awards, the music industry is gearing up to celebrate the best home-grown talent – and some from overseas – at tonight’s BRIT Awards.

Stars from Ed Sheeran to Liam Gallagher, who rejected calls to 'set the tables', will battle it out to get their hands on one of this year’s Anish-Kapoor-designed trophies.

So from timings, to performers to nominations, here’s everything you need to know:

When does it happen?

This year’s BRIT Awards will take place tonight at London’s O2 Arena. The red carpet kicks off at 4:30pm which will give the stars an hour to get themselves inside and seated for dinner on the arena floor before the ceremony begins at 8pm. Then it’s off to a slew of after parties from Warner to Universal and Sony to celebrate.

Who is hosting?

Jack Whitehall is gearing up to make his debut after taking over the reins from Emma Willis and Dermot O’Leary. The comedian said he is feeling the nerves as “anything can happen,” but assured fans he is at a “good level of scared and excitement”.

He also joked that he had requested the Chuckle Brothers – but he was rejected by show bosses.

Professor Green and Maya Jama will be hosting the red carpet live stream on the Brits Facebook page, while Alice Levine, Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo will be presenting the celeb arrivals and backstage antics for ITV2.

Who is presenting awards?

The event always attracts a wealth of stars to dish out the coveted awards with Camila Cabello, Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson rumoured to be presenting this year.

How can I watch it?

If you were unlucky enough to not get a ticket, you’ll be able to watch all the action on the official BRIT Awards Facebook page. Then switch over to ITV at 8pm to watch the ceremony.

Who is performing?

Show bosses have managed to bag Justin Timberlake to top a stellar bill of artists from Kendrick Lamar to Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.

Other acts on the line-up include Foo Fighters, Rita Ora, Liam Payne, Jorja Smith, Stormzy and Dua Lipa.

Who will be there?

The annual event attracts a host of famous faces from musicians to actors and reality TV stars, with 5ive, The Vamps, George Ezra, Scarlett Moffatt, Mollie King and Scott Mills among the VIPs listed this year.

But all eyes will be on Cheryl, who is expected to attend, days after it was reported she is on the verge of splitting from Liam Payne.

Who will win?

With two Brits under his belt and four nominations this year it’s highly likely Ed Sheeran will be honoured. But he faces tough competition from Stormzy and Liam Gallagher for British Male Solo Artist. Dua Lipa is favourite to pick up the female equivalent while Foo Fighters look set to take home Best International Album… they have flown over from the US to be here tonight.
