Jack Whitehall has been slammed for making a "disrespectful" comment towards Little Mix at the Brit Awards 2019.

The comedian, who was hosting tonight's (February 20) ceremony, can always be counted on to make an awkward joke or two, but one aimed at the girlband may have gone over the line.

After the girls performed their hit 'Woman Like Me', Jack said: "Dads up and down the country awkwardly fumbling for a scatter cushion right now," and this did not go down well with viewers.

One viewer tweeted: "Jack Whitehall’s comments after Little Mix’s performance, reducing them to sex symbols that exist to satisfy men. Gross. It’s 2019. He is cancelled."

Another wrote: "Just goes to show the society we live in and why we need feminism: You have The 1975 trying to address misogyny in the music industry and then Jack Whitehall joking about dads hiding their hard-on after Little Mix perform..."

A third fan complained: "I can't believe Jack Whitehall made that disgusting comment about dads fumbling after Little Mix's performance!! So disrespectful."

Later, the host sat down with Little Mix for a chat and made it even more awkward by bringing up ex-boyfriends, Simon Cowell and their feud with Piers Morgan.

The host even acknowledged himself that things had taken a bit of an awkward turn, which wasn't lost on viewers.

Little Mix missed out on winning 'Best British Group', which went to The 1975, but they did nab the statue for 'Music Video of the Year' for 'Woman Like Me'.
