The entertainment world and fans alike have been paying heartfelt tributes to Terry Joyce, following the announcement of the actor and beloved comedian's passing. Joyce, a familiar face on television with an impressive list of credits such as BBC hit series Byker Grove as Gerry in the 1990s.

However, he was a TV regular - that came after roles in Super Gran and Spender, the popular Jimmy Nail show that aired from 1991-1993. More recently, he featured in the acclaimed BBC sitcom Hebburn, where he played a solicitor alongside stars like Chris Ramsey, Gina McKee, Vic Reeves, and Jason Cook.

His comedic talent also made him a legend on the North East comedy circuit and beyond. Tributes have flocked in for the star.

The sad news of Terry's passing on Saturday prompted an outpouring of condolences on social media, reports Chronicle Live.

Radio host Paul 'Goffy' Gough shared his thoughts on Facebook: "Sad news today re the passing of the lovely Terry Joyce. A lovely lad and a fabulous comedian. Terry worked with the very best and they loved working with him. A huge loss to the North East and beyond. Rest in peace Terry and thanks for the many laughs."

One Facebook tribute read: "R.I.P a true hebburn lad ,a good friend and will be a huge miss, keep cracking those jokes Terry Joyce," while fellow comic Sue Sweeney penned: "So very sad to hear the news of the passing of one of the great North East comedians and my Friend Terry Joyce, he was such a lovely man with the most incredible humour. Fly high Terry you gave us so many laughs."
