Call The Midwife actors Helen George and Olly Rix have reportedly cooled off their friendship after growing close after splitting from their respective partners.

The cause of their growing apart is not known but speculation arose when eagle-eyed fans noticed the pair had stopped following each other on social platforms. Helen, 39, known for her role as Trixie Franklin, and Olly, who plays Matthew Aylward in the hit BBC series, sparked rumours when Olly removed a selfie with Helen from his Instagram.

Back in November, the pair were spotted together at Olly's West London residence, shortly after Helen announced her separation from Jack Ashton, another Call The Midwife co-star, with whom she shares two children. Around the same period, Olly had parted ways with his partner Natasha Fagri.

However, a source disclosed to The Sun: "They were there for each other in the wake of their splits. But it seems they are no longer close and have made this clear by removing each other on social media. Olly even went one step further and deleted a picture of him and Helen from Instagram."

In February, Olly didn't hold back in expressing his admiration for Helen as he attended her west-end performance of The King and I. He was full of praise for her, describing her as "amazing and fantastic.", reports the Mirror.

Following her performance, at a late-night party, Helen was greeted with a hug and a kiss from Olly.

An eyewitness at the afterparty shared: "Helen made a beeline for Olly as she arrived at the after-party. ".

They continued: "The pair spent all evening together with Olly putting his hand on her back as she chatted to her fellow cast members. At one point, two people switched seats on a sofa so Olly and Helen could sit next to each other. He was clearly very protective of Helen as he put his hand around the back of her chair."

They added: "Helen wanted to stay out with her girls so Olly hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek before he left."

Other stars of the BBC drama including Jenny Agutter, who plays Sister Julienne, Megan Cusack, who plays Ann "Nancy" Corrigan and Annabelle Apsion who stars as Councillor Violet Buckle, also attended the late-night party, which took place at the Arcade Food Hall and Bar. Helen made her entrance at the party at 11pm and exited before 1am in a black minibus with a few friends before heading to the Phoenix Arts Club in Soho.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Olly praised his fellow actor Helen saying: "She is amazing and fantastic in the role and born to play it. It's great watching Helen on stage - it is the second time I have seen her. We all saw her in Richmond and quite a few of the Call The Midwife cast are here tonight which is always great fun."

Interestingly though, according to The Sun, Helen started re-following Olly on social media after her representative was contacted for a comment.
