Yahoo News Call The Midwife's Helen George 'cuts ties' with BBC co-star in public snub after exit reports
Helen George has delivered a very pointed and very public 'snub' to her Call The Midwife co-star and on screen other half Olly Rix, with her unfollowing him on social media, as he 'cut ties' with her by making the same brutal move.
For years, viewers of the much loved BBC drama had been longing for Helen's character Trixie Franklin to find love and get her happy ending and, when Olly's TV alias Matthew popped the question, it looked like that was finally on the cards; with their wedding being the focus of the Call The Midwife finale last year.
However, when cameras returned to Poplar for a new run of episodes earlier this year, the honeymoon period was very much over for the couple, with Matthew questioning if Trixie cared more about her job than she did being his wife and him also hiding his huge financial problems from his wife. As the series drew to a close, it was revealed that Matthew had taken a job overseas to try and alleviate their money troubles, with his character's departure coming amid speculation that Olly had actually left the show.

And now, the 'split' of their two characters on screen appears to have been mirrored in real life as Helen and Olly, who had been at the theatre to support his co-star in The King and I just months ago, no longer follow each other on Instagram.
It was claimed that the pair had been there for each other following the break down of their respective relationships, but a source has told The Sun that Olly and Helen have now drifted apart. They explained: “They were there for each other in the wake of their splits. But it seems they are no longer close and have made this clear by removing each other on social media. Olly even went one step further and deleted a picture of him and Helen from Instagram."
Call The Midwife will be back on screen at the end of this year for a Christmas special, before a full new series in early 2025.
