Chesterton Post Office has closed until further notice after its postmaster resigned. Customers were informed of the news in a letter on Friday (May 10).

The branch, on High Street, has reportedly been shut since the beginning of the month. It was recently the target of a break-in at the premises, although it is unclear if anything was taken during the incident.

The company said they are hoping that the branch's closure will be temporary. In the meantime, they have advised customers to use nearby alternative branches in Grafton and Arbury Court.

We are currently engaging with some local interest and I hope to be in a better position to advise you, of our finalized plans to reinstate this service, in the near future. for the person operating the service, and for Post Office Limited.

"We apologise for the inconvenience the closure may cause. If you are a local representative, we will write to you again once we have any news about our plans for future service provision."
