Camp Koko traffic restrictions issued for Glastonbury Festival

TRAFFIC restrictions and footpath closures will take place to facilitate Camp Koko for this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The measures were first revealed in a public notice published on the Public Notice Portal on June 14.

This year's event, which boasts a lineup that includes SZA, Shania Twain and Dua Lipa, gets underway from Wednesday, June 26 and comes to an end on Sunday, June 30.

With thousands of festivalgoers set to descend into Somerset, many will stay in various camps, and various measures have been introduced in the interest of public safety.

To start, there will be temporary 20mph speed restrictions on the following roads in Shepton Mallet:

Higher Westholme Road - from its junction with Perridge Lane in a south easterly direction for a distance of 260 metres
Pilton Road - from its junction with Perridge Lane in a north westerly direction for a distance of 610 metres
Perridge Hill - from its junction with Higher Westholme Road in a south westerly direction for a distance of 20 metres
Perridge Lane - from its junction with Pilton Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 200 metres

This restriction will be in place between the hours of 12:01am and 8:00pm from Tuesday, June 25 to Monday, July 1.

Next, there will be a temporary closure of a footpath/bridleway/restricted byway.

The public footpath SM16/21 from Higher Westholme Road to Perridge Hill will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicular transport between 12:01am and 11:59pm from Thursday, June 20 to Wednesday, July 3.

Please note that emergency service vehicles will be an exemption to these enforced regulations.

The route alternatives can be found on One.Network, users requiring information of closures exceeding two weeks ahead will need to register for a free account.

Camp Koko, held annually during the Glastonbury Festival, has partnered with Effect Doctors and the Lucie app this year.

The partnership aims to provide festival-goers with rejuvenation drips, aiming to keep attendees energised throughout their festival experience.

Available appointments will be on the weekend of the festival, from Friday, 28 to Sunday, June 30.
