“Excellent transport links with a bus-stop right on your doorstep.”

This may sound like a big bonus for any potential house-buyers, but perhaps not when the bus shelter completely blocks the garden path to your home.

Images of this mid-terraced house have gone viral after they revealed that its conveniently located bus-stop, in fact, renders the property inaccessible.

The bus-stop, on Station Road in Langley Mill, Derbyshire is still in use for the main H1 Trentbarton bus route from Derby to Nottingham.

Derbyshire County Council, which is responsible for the bus-stop, said the shelter had been there a long time, but the new house was built next to it regardless.

Business development manager Julie Newing, 44, who lives nearby, said: “I noticed it a couple of days ago and couldn’t believe my eyes.

“The bus stop is part of the main bus route from Derby to Nottingham and it is still in use.

“It’s hysterical because anyone living in that house wouldn’t even be able to catch a bus because the shelter blocks their path.

“When there’s so much rubbish in the world going off in the world, you need this sort of thing to brighten your day.”

Facebook user Stewart Hughes posted: I’ve always wanted a smoking shelter in my garden.”

Lynda Csomor said: “Folks on top deck looking straight in ya bedroom window.”

Vicky Paulson said: “House for sale, with amenities close by…..lol.”

Scott Brown: “Nice little front garden, I’d be growing some tomatoes in there.”

Other residents in the area told the Derby Telegraph it was “bizarre” and “a laughing stock”.

The two-bedroom property is on the market for £140,000 and is being sold by estate agents Burchell Edwards.

A spokesperson said: “It is in the process of being moved. At the minute we only have keys for the back so people are viewing the property through the back entrance.”

They said it was still “attracting a lot of interest”
