A car has crashed into a popular bar along Weymouth seafront forcing a major town centre road to close.

Weymouth's Esplanade has been closed from the King's Statue to the pavilion after a car crashed into the front of Nook Bar earlier today.

Two pedestrians have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Dorset Police have taped off the road with the car appearing to bring a canape crashing down on the outdoor seating area where people were sat enjoying a drink.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
