Cardiff City have unveiled the design of their 2024/25 season home kit in the year of their 125th anniversary.

The clean, simple home shirt sports the club crest from the period between 1969 and 1980, synonymous with the time of club legends Phil Dwyer and Brian Clark as well as cult hero Robin Friday.

Interestingly, the club's home shirt sports a chevron across the chest, which is a nod to the club's very first crest. Then known as 'Riverside AFC' — the club's name between 1899 and 1908 — that badge was yellow with three red chevrons across the middle.

The chevron pattern, albeit in red and white, is also included in the central shield of Cardiff's Coat of Arms.

The club have confirmed that Cardiff will also play in the traditional white shorts, with the old badge also emblazoned on them. The back of the neck will have a '125' as another pointer to the anniversary, too.

The new home kit, which has a white cuff around the bottom of the sleeve and around the collar of the shirt, will be available for fans to purchase from Saturday, June 29.

Fans have already started reacting to the anniversary kit online, with a largely positive response, while some would have liked more creativity in the design.

James Leighton wrote: "Magnificent!! Great badge and white shorts! A worthy shirt to celebrate 125 years."

Damien added: "I like that... and a return to white shorts!" Amos said: "It's very nice." And Saul wrote: "White shorts every year from now please lads."

CCFC front row said: "Unreal, could have done with a bit of yellow, but it is definitely the best home kit in a while."

Three Little Birds wrote: "Nice to see a more classic-looking badge, but that kit is so much more bland than a 125-year anniversary milestone deserves."

CCFCben said: "Badge is clean, but feels like there was no effort/thought into the rest, pretty bland."

Ben Pearce added: "That badge makes hell of a difference." While Joshua James said: "The badge is unreal, probably the nicest top we’ve had in a while."
