Care home husband and wife celebrate diamond anniversary with romantic meal

A husband and wife celebrated their diamond anniversary with a romantic meal, where they reflected upon their many happy memories together.

Residents of Mapleford Nursing Home in Huncoat, Robert and Josephine Walters celebrated 60 years of marriage in May. The couple enjoyed a three-course meal on a table for two in the nursing home’s music room for the special occasion.

They reminisced about their lives and family. Josie is originally from Portsmouth and moved to the north with her family as her dad was a Royal Marine.

She met Robert, who is affectionately known as Bob, at their place of work when they were in their twenties and got married.

They have two sons together; Peter and Steven and four grandchildren, Anthony, Megan, Charlotte and Sam, as well as one great grandson, Bobby. Josie said: “We had such a lovely afternoon. Thank you to Mapleford.”

Activity coordinator Ann said: “It was a pleasure to arrange this time together.”
