A spat has ensued between two neighbours, stemming from a disagreement about pets.

An anonymous cat enthusiast found a somewhat snarky note slid through their letterbox from their neighbour. And they weren't very amused by their 'passive aggressive' request.

For some unknown reason, their neighbour had requested that their window-lounging cats be kept out of sight.

Turning to Reddit users for advice on how this matter should be navigated, the person shared a photo of the note and paired it with a snapshot of their cat.

The note from their neighbour read: "Can you please keep your cats out of the window? They are causing my dog to sit in the window and bark all day long. I work from home, so this is very difficult. Thanks."

The poster fumed: "I own my own home, and I have three cats (plus two new babies I found outside). Two of them love to sit in the window when it's nice out. They do nothing but sleep. We keep the windows open as we don't have AC yet."

Their online plea rapidly ramped up considerable interest, resulting in more than 12,000 adding their opinions into the mix. One person suggested: "Make sure to send them a letter like 'please keep your dog out of the window, his presence is disrupting my cat's chakras and chill vibes."

Another added: "I'm totally a dog person, but trying to make your neighbour discipline their cat for sitting in a window because you won't discipline your dog for nuisance barking is SHEER INSANITY.

"I mean what the hell? Train your cat not to chill in a window because training a dog not to disturb the s*** out of everyone is too hard? I can't believe this neighbour had the nerve."

A third replied: "Respond that you will let them know the situation and request that they be more mindful, but that you can't guarantee their compliance. Because cats don't listen to anyone."

Meanwhile, a fourth was keen to offer a solution to the problem, as they chimed in: "Absolutely, just block the dog from the window. Duh. Can't see the cat? Problem solved.

"Sounds more like I want my dog to be able to be at the window, so stop your cat from being able to be at the window."
